Overview
*Our client is seeking a professional accountant to start the accounting and finance functions for the Japan operation
Company Description
*Our client is a listed IT/Software company experiencing substantial growth over the last few years
Responsibilities
*Report directly to HQ Controller
*Start the accounting and administrative functions in Japan Office
*Supervise day-to-day and month-end activities
*Management of sub-ledger and general ledger month-end closing processes
*Ensure all reconciliations and supporting schedules are prepared in a timely manner and contain adequate documentation
*Management of general ledger in accordance with USGAAP
*Ensure compliance with the company's accounting policies
*Research and provide explanations to management for variances in account activity
*Establish and monitor progress towards group goals and performance targets
*Develop and maintain internal controls and key processes
*Management of commission calculation and approval process
*Interface with personnel in corporate offices in the Unites States
*Special projects as necessary
Requirements
*Knowledge of internal control procedures preferred
*Knowledge of Microsoft Office required, particularly Excel and Access
*Strong analytical, research, and creative problem-solving skills
*Strong understating of accounting concepts such as revenue recognition, sub-ledger/general ledger accounting, reserves and accruals
*Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and concisely
*Ability to organize, analyze, and carry out detailed and sometimes complex instructions effectively in a fast paced and changing environment
*Self starter, proactive and assertive personality, possessing the initiative to overcome obstacles and get the job done.

Desired Traits
*Bachelor's degree in Accounting
*CPA a plus
*Must speak, read and write English and Japanese fluently
*3-5 years of accounting experience
