Operations Manager of Start-Up Service Provider for Real Estate Fund

*Global organization providing a wide range of corporate and administration services to investment structures on behalf of international private equity and real estate fund managers.
*Seeking an Assistant Managing Director to Co-Head the new Japan Operations and help establish and build up the business

Responsibilities

*The Operations Managerial (Assistant Managing Director) role is crucial for the start up of the office in Tokyo; after which the consequent hiring of accountant, judicial scriveners etc.
*The candidate should be positively challenged by building a local operation from scratch, establishing solid business relationships and increase revenue
*The Assistant MD should have experience in managing people and comfortable partnering with native English speaking Managing Director
*Apart from a technical and personality fit, this role will be like a ??cultural bridge?? to the western-run organization in order to succeed in Japan, so the candidates should have worked with large multinationals in Japan and the US
*Reviewing statutory accounting in JGAAP
*Reviewing conversion of JGAAP to IFRS
*Reviewing financial reporting
*Communication with clients and handling client requests
*Liaison with clients?? advisors such as auditors, tax consultants and lawyers
*Ensuring compliance with Japanese laws and regulations

Requirements

*Our client is looking for a combination of technical accounting knowledge and interpersonal (bi-cultural) skills
*Seeking a candidate who has built a career in audit work; ideally with a background in the Big 4 and CPA qualified
*The candidate should have experience with US GAAP, J GAAP, IFRS and advisory work serving private equity/real estate funds
*Native Japanese and advanced English with an ability to report overseas and deal with international clients on a regular basis
*Independent and autonomous professional attitude, with strong academic record from a leading Japanese University
*Over five years experience in Japanese GAAP and IFRS with an international financial services company
*Well organized, good administrative skills, eye for detail
*Excellent presentation skills, both written and oral
*Strong team player that demonstrates maturity, perseverance and commercial sense
