* Large pharmaceutical company which has a very long and stable presence in Japan and is recognised globally for it's products.

Responsibilities

R&D Controller will provide overall financial support for the R&D organization in Japan. Major responsibilities include:
* Planning/budgeting, reporting, internal controls, business analysis & process improvement.
* This individual will bring financial perspectives in cross-functional project teams.
* S/he will work in close collaboration with the rest of the Global Finance team in Japan
* Prepare management reports regarding actual spending, variance analysis, and updated forecasts.
* Monitor level of departmental and project spending.
* Understand clinical trial activity (average cost per patient) and perform due diligence of study budgets
* Understand contracts/ financial obligations and provide Finance feedback on sourcing decisions/ vendor negotiations.
* Meet local, headquarters, and external reporting requirements
* Represent Finance in R&D Japan management team meetings and project team meetings
* Provide guidance on financial matters to R&D colleagues
* Prepare due diligence of potential in-licensing deals and joint venture collaborations

Requirements

* Must have prior pharmaceutical experience
* Must have a strong background in accounting and finance
* Management experience required
* MBA preferred but not essential
* Native level Japanese and business level English
* Must be flexible and proactive

* Remuneration: 12 to 15 Million Yen
