Company Description
Our client, who is one Fortune 500's most dynamic, is looking for a talented, smart, experienced and enthusiastic Senior Product Manager to lead and expand their PC Software and Console Video Game (SWVG) businesses in Japan
Responsibilities
* The successful candidate will be the commercial owner for these product lines, with responsibility for all aspects of demand for the category, for driving a best-in-class customer experience, and for ensuring category leadership in online SWVG shopping
* This entails driving unit, revenue, and margin growth through effective management and implementation of projects/promotions, maximizing selection, and enhancing our merchandising, customer, and site experience.
* The Senior Product Manager is a passionate customer and category advocate within the company, with proven analytical capability and project management skills, extreme attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task. He or she must be able to develop clear business rationales for new features and services and interact with technology development teams to bring customers ease-of-use and innovation in shopping for SWVG products
* The Senior Product Manager must be an effective leader and communicator in working with some of the most important partners and vendors, as well as with internal colleagues and groups
* The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for retail, a high level of flexibility, commitment, and a sense of humor
The successful Project Manager must be able to:
* Act as the ‘small business owner’ for the SWVG product lines, possessing a complete understanding (inclusive of the strategic context) of internal and external variables that impact the business. This entails owning forecasting, monitoring, understanding and reporting on our SWVG business, along with responsibility for driving projects and promotions to achieve business objectives
* Manage Editorial team, optimizing content coverage and coop merchandising support across the site, through emails, and external channels
* Have a thorough understanding of the SWVG industries, seasonality and global business trends/events, and continually monitor competitor/industry developments
* Maximize company’s segment share and profitability
* Have a complete understanding of SWVG customer needs, both existing and potential, and use that knowledge to deliver site features that provide the customers with an unparalleled SWVG shopping experience
* Manage third party relationships - manage supplier/partner contracts, manage day-to-day relationships, and negotiate and secure marketing funds
* Negotiate with and manage merchant partners to make our client a large, growing, efficient and profitable channel for them
* Create business plans for new opportunities and develop and execute project plans for the launch of new features, incorporating merchandising and pricing strategies
* Coordinate cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external parties, while meeting tight deadlines
* Conduct financial analysis of promotions and opportunities to set and meet revenue and profit targets
Requirements
* Strong background (5+ years) in product management, financial analysis and/or marketing, preferably within a consumer goods / retail company (ideally within the SW or VG industry)
* E-commerce experience preferred
* Knowledge of the SW and/or VG industry and a passion for the products preferred
* Ability to think strategically and tactically
* Effective people management skills
* Proven analytical skills and highly numerate (includes ability to use tools such as Excel and preferably Access)
* Good attention to detail
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects - work prioritization, planning and task delegation
* Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
* Broad commercial awareness developed in a fast-moving environment
* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
* Strong writing and speaking skills (English & Japanese)
* BA/BS required and MBA preferred

Remuneration:
Our client can pay a basic salary of Yen 13,500,000 plus an attractive incentive bonus scheme
