Responsibilities
*As a critical member of the tax team, this position will be working closely with the Japan office Financial Management & Reporting group and the tax team headquartered in the US
*Review underwriting for potential acquisitions to ensure taxes are appropriately considered
*Ensure all tax and regulatory filings in Japan, including consumption tax returns, local income tax returns, withholding tax filings, etc. are met by working with external advisors, as necessary
*Prepare miscellaneous regulatory filings such as change in director, change in equity, etc
*Handle local tax audits, as necessary
*Compute estimated tax amounts at quarterly and year-end closing
*Review and monitor transfer pricing entries to ensure cross-charges made are at an arm’s length charge
*Assist with special projects, e.g. transaction structuring, tax-related research and writing, taxable income projections, fixed asset basis calculations, partnership accounting and capital account maintenance projects, depreciation review and compiling financial statements for tax return preparation
*Perform/assist in ad hoc tax computations for Transactions and Development Group(s)
*Create and maintain tax filing tracking systems and databases, as needed (including EIN and entity database, tax calendar, etc.)
*Remain apprised and conversant in material issues affecting our tax position in Japan
*Assist/maintain and update the legal entity and property roll-up structure in VisioFlow flowcharting
Requirements
*Native level Japanese and fluent English required
*Either a US CPA or Japanese tax license a plus
*A Degree in accounting/finance
*Japan corporate tax experience
*Strong accounting skills
*Willing to learn and develop new capabilities
*Strong computer skills a must: Windows, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
*Able to prioritize and manage concurrent projects well
*Enjoys analytical projects
