Senior Finance Manager

Company Description

Our client is a leading Financial Institution which is growing in Asia.
They are looking for VP in their Finance Division, responsible for leading the overall financial and managerial accounting, and internal controls, and for providing reporting and analysis to help manage the company in reaching business objectives.

Responsibilities

* Responsible person in the Finance Department in Japan, who is capable of overseeing and coaching its team, and of working with the other business unit heads as well as the senior management
* The role will reporting functionally to the CFO, Asia based in HK and locally to the COO, Japan
* Oversee collecting, compiling, evaluating and reporting operations data and results in accordance with the established corporate accounting policies, procedures, practices and systems
* Prepare accurate financial statements for the purposes of group consolidation, local statutory, tax and so on
* Prepare and provide tax reporting correctly and timely
* Oversee the quality of all the reports and analyses prepared by the Finance Department
* Review project proposals and give input respecting the adequate financial returns
* Ensure the budgets and forecasts are completed at all levels in accordance with established timetables
* Analyze variances both from budget and prior periods against operating and financial results
* Review cash flow to ensure minimum liquidity requirements are sustained
* Review and analyse balance sheets, especially for minimum capital equity requirements according to local regulations
* Assist the local senior management and and CFO, Asia in developing strategies and tactics
* Prepare “what-if” analyses in order to provide management with quantification of possible operating choices
* Oversee respecting credit and collection policies, as well as establishment and maintenance of accurate customer account records
* Manage, motivate and coach Finance Department staff effectively
* Oversee the establishment and maintenance of management information system in order to ensure the management receives accurate and timely information.
* Liaise with other members in overseas Finance group on accounting and reporting issues, close schedule and other matters
* Maintain a cordial and cost effective relationship with the company’s external auditor
* Manage the corporate relationship with bankers
* Assist the activities of the group internal auditors
* Prime contact within Finance for all securities regulators

Requirements

* Bachelors Degree, preferably in Finance and /or Accounting
* Master of Business Administration is not required but a plus
* US or Japanese Certified Public Accountant qualification is strongly preferred
* English and Japanese: Excellent communications skills both verbal and written are required
* Management experiences and interpersonal skills:
* 5 or more years of management experiences. Must be able to manage, train and motivate Finance Department staff effectively
* Must be able to build trust and goodwill with his/her staff and peers.
* Accounting proficiency:
* Some familiarity with both US and Japan GAAP and with certain accounting research topics, and must be able to understand technical aspects of accounting, taxes and financial modeling
* Coordination skills:
* Must be able to coordinate activities well with heads of business units, senior management and internal/external auditors

Additional Notes

Remuneration:
Our client is able to offer a basic salary of Yen 16,000,000 plus bonus of up to 40% p.a.
